OGALLALA (AP) - A Nebraska state trooper remains in good condition after surgery for a gunshot wound suffered during a traffic stop when the car's driver fatally shot himself. On Tuesday, the Nebraska State Patrol said Trooper Kevin Horst was recovering at Ogallala Community Hospital. The 42-year-old Horst was wounded around 4:20 p.m. MST after he stopped a car on U.S. Highway 30 near Ogallala. The driver was identified as Durward Ulfers, 68, of North Platte. The patrol reports Horst was nearby when Ulfers put a revolver to his head and fired. The bullet continued on to strike Horst's left shoulder.
