State Of Area Highways Is "Fair"
NORFOLK - The overall state of the highway system in northeast Nebraska is "fair" according to the head of the state Department of Roads in the region. District 3 Engineer Kris Winter presented a state of the district report at a recent meeting of the State Highway Commission in Norfolk. Winter says many of the district's bridges and several sections of highway are experiencing "mild-to-significant distress in some portion of the corridor." Winter says the Department of Roads has put in place new standards and procedures for allocating highway funding and they are now faced with the task of prioritizing those assets as best they can.
