Four years ago, Pat Riley envisioned a dynasty being born in Miami.  He might finally be able to make it happen.  With $43 million to spend in free agency and the first $16.6 million of that likely going to Dwyane Wade next season, Riley and the Heat are positioned to make the biggest splash of all in this summer of NBA change.  Wade wants to stay in Miami.  He wouldn't mind having LeBron James or Chris Bosh join him.  Or both, for that matter.  And if there's one team in the NBA that has the ability to get three of the top five picks in the 2003 draft together for the next few years, it's likely Miami.  It's a lineup made for fantasy basketball, yet could become reality in South Florida over the coming days.

South Carolina beat UCLA 7-1 in the opener of the best-of-three finals at the College World Series at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium.  Blake Cooper allowed three hits in eight-plus innings and Bobby Haney drove in a career-high three runs to boost South Carolina within a win of its first national title.  The teams play again tonight at 6:30.

The field of golfers at the 43rd Nebraska Match Play Championship has been trimmed to 64 as the match play portion of the event is set to begin today at the Omaha Country Club.  A trio of golfers from Lincoln shared medalist honors at even par 71 while 13 other players played into dusk for the final eight bracket seeds.  Mike Coatman, Patrick Hanzel and Bryce Brown were the three players who shared the low score.  They were awarded seeds 3-5 with last season's champion, John Hurley of O'Neill and runner-up Andy Sajevic of Fremont given the automatic 1-2 seeds.  Bode Hill (81) of Columbus secured the final match play seed to earn a match-up against Hurley, tournament champion in 2007 & 2009.  Also qualifying for today were Beemer’s Richard Schneider (75), Columbus’ Greg Pohlmann (78) & Mike Krumland (80), & Norfolk’s Lance Lawson (81).  Not making the cut were Norfolk’s Tyler Erwin (83), Norfolk’s Eric Bruening (83), Plainview’s Mitchell Klooz (84), Columbus’ Bret Kumpf (89), Norfolk’s Todd Uhlir (90), Norfolk’s Todd Pospisil (91), & Norfolk’s Brett Morrow (94).
