The Chicago Blackhawks are up 2-0 in the Stanley Cup finals following last night's 2-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers.  The game was scoreless until Marian Hossa and Ben Eager tallied 28 seconds apart late in the second period.  The Flyers outshot the Hawks 15-4 in the final period, but Antti Niemi preserved the lead and was perfect after Simon Gagne scored with 14:40 left in the game.

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum has had fluid drained from his troublesome right knee.  Bynum said yesterday he hopes the procedure will allow him to play closer to full strength against Boston in the NBA finals, which begin Thursday.  The Lakers discovered a small tear in Bynum's meniscus during their first-round playoff series against Oklahoma City.  Rajon Rondo and Rasheed Wallace were limited during the Boston Celtics' practice session yesterday.  Rondo, who suffered muscle spasms during the Eastern Conference finals against the Orlando Magic, then landed hard on his back during a first-quarter drive in Friday's clinching Game 6, participated in what Celtics coach Doc Rivers estimated was 3/4 of the practice, but was held back with eyes toward Game 1.  Wallace developed back spasms during Game 5 against Orlando, then departed in the fourth quarter of Game 6 when the symptoms worsened.  Rivers held the reserve big man out of contact drills yesterday and remains concerned about his availability moving forward.

The San Francisco Giants were near the bottom of the National League in runs and homers before they faced Ubaldo Jimenez yesterday.  The Giants' stats didn't get any better.  Jimenez became the majors' first ten-game winner of the year, improving to 10-1 with a four-hitter in Colorado's 4-0 shutout of the Giants in San Francisco. The 26-year-old right-hander also lowered his ERA to a major league-best 0.78 with his second shutout of the season, and first since his no-hitter April 17.  Jimenez outdueled two-time reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum, who fell to 5-2 and walked five for the fourth consecutive game.  Clint Barmes put the Rockies ahead to stay with a two-run single in the second.
