Northeast Community College holds Northeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball Games
The Northeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball Games were held Friday night at Northeast Community College. In the boys game, the “Light” team defeated the “Dark” squad 91-86. Norfolk High’s Nate Marsh led four players in double figures for the winners with 19 points and six rebounds. West Holt’s Dillon Cleary scored 12 points, Norfolk High’s Brady Lollman & Laurel/Concord’s Ezra Schantz both added 11. Lollman added eight assists while Schantz pulled down five boards. The “Dark” team was paced by Ewing’s Austin Kaczor’s 20 points and six rebounds. Kaczor scored 18 of his 20 in the second half with four three-pointers. Norfolk Catholic’s Jarren Heng had 15 points, Tommy Ruzek from Dodge added 12 points, and Crofton’s Weston Foxhoven had 10. Heng & Foxhoven tore down five rebounds. The score was tied at 46 at halftime. Marsh and Kaczor were named the Fred Letheby Award Winners & the WJAG Players of the Game.
In the Girls Game, the “Light” team defeated the “Dark” squad 69-62. Norfolk Catholic’s Cali Bellar led the winners with 16 points while Elgin High-Pope John’s Kasi Stoltz netted 15 points, and Kourtney Janata of Howells pumped in 10. Stoltz scored all 15 points in the second half. The “Dark” team was paced by Laurel/Concord’s Bethany DeLong’s 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists. She led four players in double figures. The “Light” team outscored the “Dark” team 25-14 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. They trailed 48-44 after three quarters. Bellar & DeLong were named the Fred Letheby Award Winners while Stoltz & DeLong were named the WJAG Players of the Game.
