Day One of the State Track & Field Championships is in the books

Day One of the State Track & Field Championships at Omaha’s Burke Stadium is in the books.  Norfolk Catholic’s Jarren Heng was the highlight of the day concerning the city of Norfolk as he won the 3200 Meter Run by twelve seconds.  He finished in 9:29.195 with teammate Nick Knudson placing fourth.  The Norfolk Catholic boys are currently in third place through six events in Class “B” with 25 points.  Blair is in the lead with 30 points and Aurora is second with 29.  Landon Nelson was fifth in the Pole Vault, and the 3200 Meter Relay team of Knudson, Heng, Jordan Molacek, & Tyler Maguire were third.  The Norfolk High boys are tied for ninth in the Class “A” criteria with Bellevue West with seven points.  Omaha Central is in the lead with 33 points.  Tyson Rowse was seventh in the High Jump, Byron Evans was sixth in the Triple Jump, Eliezer Fernandez took seventh in the Shot Put, and Sean Johnson has qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 300 Meter Hurdles.  Samantha Arlt placed sixth in the Discus.  We’ll have reports throughout the day on Saturday on Newstalk WJAG 780 AM & 105.9 FM, Lite Rock 97.5, & 106 KIX.
