Roder May "Voluntarily Resign"
NORFOLK - It appears Norfolk may be looking for a new city administrator. The agenda for Monday night's City Council meeting includes an agreement that, if signed, calls for Roder to voluntarily resign effective December 31st. The agreement comes out of Council meeting Thursday night in which Mayor Sue Fuchtman, who is seeking Roder's termination, and the Council met for two hours in a closed door session over the matter. The mayor has not stated why she's seeking his dismissal. And we may never know. The agreement has a statement that says the city and Roder agree to not make "adverse public statements against the other." The agreement also calls for the city to pay Roder $12,500 dollars a month for a six month period beginning January 1sr, 2011 -- and he and his family will continue have health insurance coverage. Roder was hired under contract on December 1st, 2008, after starting work in August, 2008. His four-year contract called for a salary of nearly $112,100 a year. Roder had been city administrator in Northfield, Minnesota prior to coming to Norfolk.
