Resolution To Come Monday On Roder Matter

NORFOLK - We'll have to wait until Monday to find out if Al Roder is still the city administrator of Norfolk. Mayor Sue Fuchtman called a special meeting of the City Council Thursday night to discuss Roder's "termination" -- the only item on the agenda. Following a two hour executive session of the Council, the body voted eight-to-nothing to table the issue. Fuchtman said there was good discussion. She said the proposed termination of Roder "was not for just cause. And certainly the integrity of the city administrator has been one of great admiration" of the Council. The mayor went on to say that a resolution to the matter will be addressed at Monday night's regular Council meeting. Fuchtman and Roder declined to comment further after the meeting. No reason has been given publicly why the issue has been brought to light. In addition to Fuchtman, Roder, City Attorney Clint Schukie and the Council, labor law attorney Jerry Pigsley of Lincoln and Roder's attorney, Tom DeLay sat in on the executive session.
