Relay Passes $2-million Mark
NORFOLK - The Norfolk Area Relay for Life has crossed a milestone -- more than $2-million raised over the past 15 years. With some money still to be turned in, the 2010 event for the American Cancer Society surpassed the goal of $215,000 by at least $5,000. Relay for Life Co-chairman Jean Schmeckpeper reports that 3800 luminaria lined the track at the Johnny Carson Field Friday night. 609 people on 59 teams -- including four youth teams -- took part this year.
