Railroad Worker's Body Recovered
NORFOLK - The body of a Norfolk railroad employee has been recovered from the Elkhorn River. Jeff School, 38, was among a crew from Nebraska Central Railroad on a railroad bridge near Sara's lake when it collapsed into the swollen Elkhorn River Tuesday. His body was recovered late Friday afternoon. Members of Lincoln Fire and Rescue assisted Norfolk Fire rescue personnel in recovering School's body under the collapsed bridge. City of Norfolk Public Information Officer Sheila Schukei says the Nebraska State Patrol and Madison County Sheriff's Office assisted. She indicated that Norfolk Fire Chief Shane Weidner said this would be the most difficult recovery Norfolk Fire has ever had to make. She said the chief indicated, however, having the Lincoln personnel there helped keep his crew safe.
