Political Parties Hold County Conventions
NORFOLK - The Madison County Democratic Party held its annual convention last week in Norfolk, conducting routine business. Mary Doyle was re-elected county chairman; and Doyle says the party also elected delegates for the July 24th State Convention in Columbus. On the same night, Madison County Republicans met for their convention. Governor Dave Heineman was expected to speak, but impending severe weather forced him to fly back to Lincoln earlier. Speaker Mike Flood was called upon to address party members instead. Flood says he is proud of the job the legislature did in cutting the budget, and he expects more cuts before the state's tax revenues return to more normal levels.
