Planned Sewer Rate Increase Approved
NORFOLK - The Norfolk City Council approved an ordinance Monday night that calls for a average seven-point-five percent sewer rate increase for residential, commercial and industrial users. Public Works Director Dennis Smith says the rate adjustment is the third of four increases recommended by an engineering firm as part of a cost of service study in November 2008. He says bi-monthly sewer rates for a typical residential customer will rise by a $1.75 while a commercial user will see an increase of $5.71 during the same time frame. The new rates take effect October first.
