Parking Lot Purchase Concept Approved

NORFOLK - It's only a concept, not an agreement. The Norfolk City Council has given its OK for the downtown Vehicle Parking District to consider acquiring a yet-to-be built parking lot at the site of the future home of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce at 7th Street and Norfolk Avenue. Parking District Board Chairman Steve McNally said at Tuesday night's meeting, the lot would accommodate the Chamber, which would pay rent, and the public. Another parking board member and downtown business owner, Connie Geary, said nearby businesses including a new restaurant, would have access to the lot -- bringing more people into the area. The 18,000 square foot parking lot could handle 35 vehicles.
