No Contest Plea Entered In Kidnapping Case
MADISON (AP) - A Newman Grove man has pleaded no contest in a kidnapping case involving a 14-year-old boy. Jose Llerenas-Alvarado, 46, has pleaded no contest to attempted kidnapping in Madison County District Court. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors reduced the charge against him from felony kidnapping, for which he could have faced life in prison. Police report Llerenas-Alvarado propositioned the teen and his brother June 4 in Newman Grove, but they refused and Llerenas-Alvarado forced the teen into his car. The court document says the man drove the boy out of town and attempted to take his clothes off, but the boy fled. Llerenas-Alvarado will be sentenced Oct. 21, when he faces a minimum of a year in jail.
