More Nebraskans Using Food Stamps
LINCOLN (AP) - More Nebraska families are using food stamps as they try to get by with smaller paychecks, or no jobs at all. Statistics provided by the Department of Health and Human Services show that the number of households getting food stamps in June had increased by more than 20 percent since June 2009. At the end of June there were almost 72,000 households getting food stamps. Food stamps, provided under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, are paid for with federal dollars.
