Missing Girl's Body Found; Stepdad Arrested

SCOTTSBLUFF (AP) - Authorities said Friday that the body of a missing 8-year-old girl has been found in a remote area several miles north of her Nebraska home, and that they have arrested her stepfather on suspicion of murder. The Nebraska State Patrol says the Kerra Wilson's stepfather, Salvador Carlos Lopez, 32, of Mitchell, has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in her death. Wilson was last seen Tuesday evening with her grandparents. Her stepfather reported dropping her off at Mitchell Elementary School, but investigators determined she never arrived at school. Wilson was originally reported missing Wednesday afternoon. A Patrol spokesman says a local rancher provided a tip that led to the discovery of the girl's body. Investigators haven't determined when Wilson died or how she was killed.
