Meister Picks Running Mate

LINCOLN (AP) - Democrat Anne Boyle says she decided to run for lieutenant governor after she heard about a letter that Gov. Dave Heineman sent to state education groups, urging them to support a repeal of federal health care reform. This morning, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Meister announced Boyle as his running mate. He will face the incumbent Heineman this fall. In the letter, Heineman said the teachers groups should support the repeal of federal health care reform or he'll assume they tacitly support a likely reduction in education funding. Boyle described the letters as blackmail. Boyle was chairwoman of the state Democratic Party from 1998 to 2001 and is a four-time delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
