Johanns Pledges Help To Area Officials
NORFOLK - U.S. Senator Mike Johanns has pledged his help to officials in Antelope, Holt and Madison counties who are still recovering from flood damage of three weeks ago. He met with about 20 area officials Monday afternoon during a meeting at the Norfolk Area Chamber Commerce. Prior to that, he toured the area of the Nebraska Central Railroad bridge southwest of the city that fell into the Elkhorn River after its pilings gave way. Johanns says the next step is to get the President to sign a disaster declaration for areas impacted by flooding and storms over the past month. Johanns tells 106 KIX NEWS that will open access to federal funding to counties and cities that don't have the kind of money it will take to repair roads and bridges lost or damaged in the storms.
