Hoskins Senator Wants to Repeal Nebraska's Motorcyle Helmet Law
LINCOLN - Nebraska's mandatory helmet law for motorcycle riders is once again being challenged in the legislature. Hoskins State Senator Dave Bloomfield has introduced a bill to do away with the requirement that motorcyclists and riders over the age of 21 wear an approved helmet. Bloomfield says Nebraska continues to lose money because riders bypass the state rather than wear a helmet. The bill's opponents say the helmet law saves lives. Bloomfield's bill would still require helmets for those under the age of 21 and all motorcyclists and passengers would be required to wear protective eyewear.
