Heavy Rain Causes Flood Concerns
NORFOLK - Over three inches of heavy rain early this morning is causing flooding concerns in the region. That's how much has fallen at the 106 KIX studios -- in downtown Norfolk. It also caused travel problems -- mainly in the southern portion of the city. A few cars could be seen stalled at the intersection of 13th Street and Omaha Avenue around 4:30 this morning with others turning around. Water was also standing on other sections of Omaha Avenue as well as on portions Pasewalk Avenue. It has since receded in those areas. However, as of 6:30 a.m. there was still standing water at the intersection of Highway 275 Bypass and Center Drive between Wells Fargo Bank and Earl May. The portion of the Sunset Plaza parking lot where the Farmers Market is conducted is also under water. The ditches in that area are also full of water. There is also quite a bit of water on South Third Street just south of Park Avenue.
