Gubernatorial Candidate To Drop Out
OMAHA (AP) - A Nebraska Democratic Party official says Mark Lakers will drop out of governor's race. The official confirmed Lakers' decision Friday afternoon, but he spoke anonymously because he wasn't authorized to release the news. Lakers is a first-time candidate who was the only Democrat to challenge Republican Gov. Dave Heineman. Lakers founded a merger and acquisitions investment bank in Omaha, but during the campaign he came under fire for his campaign finance reports. Lakers acknowledged making some errors and had to remove more than 20 individuals and organizations from his list of campaign donation pledges.
