Fortenberry, Smith Advance
LINCOLN (AP) - Incumbent Reps. Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith have handily defeated their GOP challengers. In the 1st District with 91 of 576 precincts reporting, Fortenberry had more than 83 percent of the vote to defeat challengers Ralph M. Bodie of Liberty and David L. Hunt of Blair. In the 1st District's Democratic primary, Jessica Lynn Turek and Ivy Harper, both of Lincoln, were in a dead heat for the lead, with 187 of the precincts reporting. In Nebraska's vast 3rd District with 186 of 700 precincts reporting, Smith had more than 88 percent to defeat Dennis Parker of Columbus. Smith faces Democrat Rebekah Davis, who ran unopposed, in November.
