Flash Flood Warning

NORFOLK - A flash flood warning has been issued for a large part of the listening area after heavy rain has fallen across the region. The warning -- in effect until four p-m -- covers all of Boone, Burt and Platte counties -- as well as northern Colfax, northern Dodge, southeastern Antelope, southern Cuming, southern Madison and southern Stanton counties. Maple Creek was flooding in many locations. As of 12-noon, the area around the Highway 275 and Highway 91 -- three miles northwest of Scribner -- was reported to be under two-to-three feet of water. Long stretches of the maple Creek and Pebble Creek, including large parts of their drainage basins -- were also reported to be experiencing flooding. Shell Creek near Lindsay and Platte Center was reported out of its banks with the Highway 45 and Highway 91 junction closed. The National Weather Service reports runoff from the excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding. Some locations that will experience flooding include Albion, Beemer, Clarkson, Craig, Creston, Dodge, Howells, Leigh, Lindsay, Lyons, Madison, Monroe, Newman Grove, Petersburg, Platte Center, Scribner, Snyder, Stanton, Tekamah, Uehling and West Point.
