Fire Damages Norfolk House

NORFOLK - Fire caused heavy damage to a house in Norfolk Friday evening. Fire Division Shift Commander Steve Bettendorf says crews were called to 307 S. 10th Street around 6:15 p.m. and found the two story house with fire in a  bedroom. Crews were able to control and extinguish the fire within 10 minutes of arrival. He says the house also had smoke damage throughout the rest of the structure. Damage estimates were $10,000 to the structure and $7000 to the contents. The cause remains under investigation. The home's occupant, Debra Blum and her son, were at home at the time of the fire. Smoke detectors were present and operating at the time. No injuries were reported.
