Elkhorn River Down In Norfolk; Up Downstream

UNDATED - The Elkhorn River in Norfolk and upstream is dropping, but remains above flood stage. At 9:00 p.m. Wednesday,  the Elkhorn at Norfolk was at 14.7 feet, down from nearly 17 feet late Tuesday night. The river is expected to fall below the 12 foot flood stage by late Thursday evening. At Neligh, the river stage at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon was 11.9 feet, with levels expected to fall below flood stage by Friday morning. Flood stage in Neligh is 10 feet. Downstream from Norfolk, the Elkhorn River at Pilger was at 15 feet Wednesday night. Flood stage in Pilger is 12 feet. At West Point, the river was also at 15 feet feet, above the 12 foot flood stage. The river at West Point is expected to climb to 15.6 feet by early Thursday morning, and fall below flood stage by Saturday morning. And the North Fork River at Pierce was at 12.5 feet Wednesday afternoon, and expected to fall below the 12 foot flood stage this evening.
