Chicagoan Wins Comedy Festival Amateur Nite
NORFOLK - A Chicago man is this year's winner of Norfolk's Great American Comedy Festival Amateur Night. The audience voted Prashanth Venkat the funniest among ten comedians competing in Wednesday night's competition at the Johnny Carson Theatre. In addition to winning 500-dollars plus a trophy, Venkat also gets a one-on-one consultation with Eddie Brill, comedy talent coordinator for the Late Show with David Letterman" and festival executive producer. The Comedy Festival continues Thursday with the first of the competitions among 20 professional comedians. Ten perform tonight -- while the next group takes the stage Friday evening.
