Chamber President Pleased With LB 840 Vote

NORFOLK - Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce President Dennis Houston says he's looking forward to five or ten years from now and reflect that Tuesday was a "great day for Norfolk." That was his reaction to the approval of an local economic development plan during Tuesday's primary election. The unofficial vote total was 2,240 to 1,688. Houston tells 106 KIX NEWS the city has had business opportunities every day that they've had to pass on. But he says an LB840 plan will change that. $400,000 dollars a year in local property taxes will finance the plan to help attract new businesses as well as help expand existing businesses. That comes out to about 36 cents per $100-dollars of valuation.
