BID Discussion In Downtown Norfolk

NORFOLK - If a Business Improvement District is recreated in downtown Norfolk, a portion of the $50,000 dollars raised from a special assessment would be used to hire someone to run the program. Speaking at a town hall meeting Tuesday night to discuss the assessment to fund the district's marketing and promotion functions, Vehicle Parking District Board Chairman Steve McNally said the director would be the contact person for all commerce downtown. While there are approximately 160 downtown property owners, only about 40 people attended last night's meeting. Those who questioned the special assessment favored having a survey be sent out to gauge support of those who couldn't make the meeting.
