Affiliated Foods Midwest Moves Shipments Because of Flooding

NORFOLK - One of Norfolk's largest employers has been forced to temporarily divert part of its workload to facilities in Kansas and Wisconsin. Because of flood waters and a power outage, Affiliated Foods Midwest will make its outbound deliveries from those two facilities rather than from the Norfolk warehouse, located at the intersection of 13th Street and Omaha Avenue. According to a news release, Affiliated's first priority is to make sure employees and their families are safe. Their second priority is to take care of their retailers and their communities' food needs. And the third priority is to protect the Norfolk facility, the community of Norfolk and the many jobs the Affiliated Warehouse provides. As they return to work, Affiliated Warehouse employees are asked to use the front office entry way and sign in at the front desk. Employees should park in the Sunset Plaza parking lot and not at Ace Hardware. Third shift and third weekend shift workers were asked to report to work at 9:30 Wednesday night. First shift receiving and picking are to report to work at 8 a.m. Thursday , and inventory personnel at 10 a.m. Thursday. Second and fourth shift start times will be announced on the radio after 9 a.m. Thursday. Office personnel are also asked to listen to the radio for updates.
